Meet the Staff

Our programs reflect the local Haida Gwaii culture that so many visitors love because our staff are all local residents. We are all trained and certified by recognized leaders in the industry such as wilderness first aid and sea kayak guiding. Beyond our work with the camp, Mount Moresby staff lead dynamic island lives that includes cabin living, personal food growing and harvesting, community activitism and volunteerism, and participation in cultural events. When at work, our staff bring this eclectic experience into the programs making for a rich and deep Haida Gwaii experience for you.

Traci Murphy – Executive Director

Traci is our newly appointed Executive Director!

Brie Altrogge – Office Manager and Field Instructor

Brie is a certified Sea Kayak Guide with the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC, and has a passion for all things ocean. She is most at home under a canopy of cedar next to a cheerful fire after a long day of paddling. She loves watching kids and adults grow in confidence and good spirit as they learn to travel through the amazing intersection of sea and land that is Haida Gwaii. Between trips and programs, she manages the MMAC office, where her goal is to raise the efficiency of the organization to the level of a well-crafted antique pocket watch (needing occasional winding but outlasting all the plastic.)

Jonathan Dunsmore – Summer Programs Director
Sitka – Camp Dog

Jonny D is starting his third season with Mount Moresby Adventure Camp. Over the years he has been an avid field instructor for our School Programs and Summer Programs, as well as guiding kayak and boat tours for local operators. While spending the summers of his own childhood at camps in Ontario, he is more than happy to be on the other side, developing exciting programs for children of all ages.

Lucy Neville – Field Instructor

Lucy has jumped into a second season as Field Instructor with her yellow gumboots a-flying. Born in the urban jungle of Vancouver, and currently completing a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Victoria, she is always eager to explore Haida Gwaii’s rugged beauty. In addition to Leave No Trace and Bear Aware training, she is certified by the Sea to Sky Outdoor Education Program, and has spent countless happy hours guiding, surveying, ranching and trekking throughout British Columbia’s wilderness. Mount Moresby Adventure Camp has given her the opportunity to turn the great outdoors into a one-of-a-kind classroom and playground for children and adults alike.
